Teachable Lesson: Just Say NO to Urban Appropriators!

Happy Wednesday, Coffee Talkies!

There's been so much talk surrounding Taylor Swift's 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, and much of it has to do with the ex-girlfriends of her fiancé, Travis Kelce...

Specifically, the fact that all of Travis' exes have been BLACK women.

And now that Travis has popped the question to the only white gal who's ever been on his arm...

There's been a TON of discourse about how she's seen...

Being the white gal to secure the ring! 💍💍💍

There are those who deduce that many of the tracks on Taylor's new record are essentially about how she's jealous of those Black women...

How she's insecure because she's a plain jane white gal...

Now, I'm not a Taylor Swift fan and I'm not here to defend her...

So, all of that could very well be true...

And better yet, it probably is true because we know that white gals definitely tend to be jealous of Black women...

Especially when white women attract the attention of white men!!!

And, from what I'm hearing, the majority of Taylor's ex-boyfriends have all gone on to either date or marry biracial Black women...

So, yeah...

I'd definitely say that Taylor is probably quite insecure about her fiancé being with Black women before her.

But my concern is that so many Black women, too many Black women, were truly HURT that Travis moved on with a white gal!

Black women felt BETRAYED that Travis, who'd only been seen publicly with Black women, chose to seriously take up with a white gal!

Black women felt PLAYED that Travis didn't marry Kayla Nicole...

The Black woman he'd been with for FIVE YEARS...

The Black woman who hyped him up, solidifying his SWAGGER DOMINANCE in the Black community!

But here's the thing:

BLACK WOMEN SHOULDN'T BE AT ALL SURPRISED BY ANY OF THIS!!!

Travis Kelce was literally participating in "urban appropriator cosplay," and Black folks, especially Black women, fell HARD for his act!

The thing that Black women don't understand when it comes to "urban appropriator cosplay" is that, at some point, the participant TIRES OF PLAYING THE GAME!!!

At some point, the participant decides that THEY HAVE OUTGROWN THE GAME!!!

And that's what happened to Travis. He turned 32 years-old, and realized that he was "ready to grow up"...

And part of that "growing up" included totally ditching the urban appropriator act!

See, it was all fun and games...

Until it wasn't.

And that's what Black women fail to realize when it comes to dating these types.

It's not that white boys will "go back home."

NO!

It's that "urban appropriator cosplayers" will go back home!

No one wants to play pretend forever. At some point, everyone wants to be themselves.

And that's precisely what it seems like Travis is doing with Taylor...

Along with their family and their friends.

Everyone is right at home...

Very comfortable.

So, the best thing that Black women can learn from this is to STEER CLEAR of urban appropriators.

Don't try to justify your attraction to white men by aligning yourselves with ones who practice urban cosplay.

And for goodness' sake, PLEASE don't insist that your "regular Josh" take up urban cosplay.

If you want a black male...

If you're intrigued by black males...

If you're attracted to "swagger" and all of the "stuff" that is signature behavior and very much characteristic of black males...

Then please go get one.

That would be like "Josh" insisting that you make yourself over to look, act, and behave like "Becky" because he really does believe that everything about Becky is SUPERIOR!

But he's just with you because Becky didn't give him a chance...

How INSULTED would you be?

How FOOLISH would you feel?

Exactly.

Save yourself time, effort, and heartache...

Just say NO to urban appropriators!

ALL OF THEM!!!

Taylor Swift's Memo to Kayla Nicole!
Happy Saturday, Coffee Talkies! Taylor Swift released her 12th studio album yesterday, The Life of a Showgirl. And in less than 24 hours, the album has already broken several records, including becoming Spotify's most-streamed album in a single day.   But the real talk of the town is track number three, Opalite. Why Opalite? Well, because Opalite is the song where Taylor references her fiancé'...
Teachable Lesson: Selena Gomez & Benny Blanco Nuptials
Happy Thursday, Coffee Talkies! Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco exchanged vows over the weekend. And, normally, this wouldn't be a couple that I'd cover... But I think it's important to look at this relationship because it's quite telling, and more importantly, Black women can use this as a teachable lesson. As I always say, you should have the same requirements for ALL MEN REGARDLESS OF RACE. A...
