Happy Wednesday, Coffee Talkies.
I was incredibly saddened to hear the news of Dolly Parton's passing yesterday.
She's truly one of those rare stars who has always been an ICON.
And more than being an icon, she's always seemed like such a genuine, kindhearted person.
From her multitude of hit songs:
- "Coat of Many Colors"
- "Jolene"
- "I Will Always Love You"
- "9 to 5"
- "Islands in the Stream"
- "Romeo"
To her memorable movies:
- 9 to 5
- The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas
- Rhinestone
- Steel Magnolias
- Unlikely Angel
- Jackie's Back
- Joyful Noise
- A Country Christmas Story
- Christmas at Dollywood
To her philanthropy:
- Dolly Parton's Imagination Library
- COVID-19 vaccination research
- Pediatric care
- Disaster relief efforts
Ms. Dolly made a lasting impression on so many lives.
Never forget that when many white folks were questioning the validity of Black Lives Matter, Ms. Dolly was a vocal supporter.

She just seemed like the kind of lady who believed that everyone had a voice, everyone was special in their own way, and everyone deserved to be treated with decency and respect.
Some celebrities are only popular within their specific genre...
Some celebrities are only popular during a certain era...
But then there was the one and only Dolly...
Beloved by everyone across all genres, in every era...
And she will truly be missed.
Dolly Rebecca Parton Dean...
Iconic always.
